Brilliant egg layers in the commercial environment
Your basic brown hybrid
Commercial site http://www.lohmanngb.co.uk/
Bred with feed efficiency in mind so not designed for scraps and backyard
feeding
Medium eggs - not really large in general
Designed for optimum conditions - which they prefer to be constant shelter,
protection from disease, the best proprietory feeding, constant ambient
temperature, no stress
so preferably NO :-
wind,
rain,
sun,
scraps,
wild birds,
predators
things flying overhead
sudden events

If they have been free range reared - unlikely but possible - they can
survive better, but otherwise the feathering tends to be poor for REAL LIFE
They do suffer from poor shell quality beyond 18 months so can suffer from
egg peritonitis
THey are cheap ! but actually I am surprised you are being charged that
much - I thought Lohmann Browns were only around 2.50 these days

If you can I would find a BLack Rock supplier - they are better in the back
garden environment
