My hens do this from time to time - I think of it as a little bit of
punctuation between real eggs. Got a whopper of an egg yesterday from one of
the 'newbies' (we have 4 year olds, and 4 just past POLs) who are still
getting into the swing of things - probably a double yolker - it was funny
seeing it next to the latest 'quail' egg. I tend to keep my little ones as
conversation pieces (I have boring friends!).
I suppose we get one every 2 months or so - and it doesn't seem to 'mean'
anything, and I've not noticed one hen doing it repeatedly. I woudn't worry
too much if I were you.
