Jill, as you suggested (when we spoke on the phone) I have put a small
branch in the run with the chicks (now ten days old). They seem to love
jumping up and down on it so its providing quite a bit of interest.
Mum is still looking after them but getting increasingly ****ed off having
to be shut up in the run - she spends a lot of time making a fresh dust
bath - I'm moving the ark every day. I'm letting them out when I'm nearby to
keep an eye on them but buzzards and the fact the chicks can walk through
the electric fence at this stage makes me wary of doing so more often.
Did I hear/read somewhere that you shouldn't allow birds to perch too early
in life? Or is it ok for them to decide when they are ready?
Jay
