Playing is fine - but some folks say that if you let birds - especially
heavy ones perch too early it can cause twisted keels as its still soft for
them to rest on it.
Have you got a bit of a roll of rabbit netting?? - some bamboo canes?? and
and raspberry netting??
If you have anything like that then if you weave bamboo canes through the
rabbit netting you can then skewer them into the ground to make a protected
enclosure - raspberry netting over the top stops the buzzards and crows.
This is what we have done a lot over the years for broods.
You don't have a fruit cage do you ?
If you know anyone with one being sold off cheap they are great for rearing
babies in - the advantage is you get your fruit debugged
