Is this my imagination ?

I recently separated my cockerels from hens - to stop, as my wife put
it from them being 'continually raped'. Now not only do i seem to have
much more friendly & less stressed hens - but the eggs seem
noticeably larger - is this purely conincidental? Btw there were
2 cockerels to 8 hens.
