WOOHOOO!!!

today we got 5 eggs. since we only have 5 hens of laying age, Im hoping
that the shell-less problem is over. 2 of the eggs are of "medium" size
and of course still getting the double-yolk from the one hen. The other is
a small pullet egg. 1 brown from the RIR (Mr. Blue), 3 blue, and one a
lovely rose-ish color.

I read in another thread that hens dont usually lay everyday? Our oldest
hen Mr. Blue lays every day at the same time. You can almost set your watch
by her. I have 2 small kids, so they want to check for eggs 5000 times a
day. The rule is look in the window and if anyone is inside, dont open the
door. The hens dont seem to be disturbed by the girls looking in the
window so everyone is happy.

>From the kids trips, I know that almost every morning between 10 and 10.30
Mr. Blue goes into the house and doesnt reappear until 11.30ish. Is this
really that unusual? Every 4-5 days she will skip a day of laying. Most of
mine seem to lay roughly 24 hours apart. Sunday we got 4 eggs, yesterday
3, and today 5.
