They are really running around all day. I have yet to see a breed that
is more agile. They can start at the far end of the meadow nearby and
come flying right up to where I stand, calling them. That's more than
one hundred meters, I would guess, and there's the fence in between that
they have to cross. They fly like partridges (and it is a great sight!)
A fence two meters high is something they will laugh about. I'm not
exaggerating.

This hen was two years old. The one I killed accidentally last year was
three years old and still laying - she sure was chubby, and the lady who
showed me how to pluck and gut her was surprised about the fat in her as
she knew the breed. But last year's hen was nowhere near as fat as this
one now. It was disgusting.
That's why I no longer feed them ad lib.
