> Why are you worming?
My main flock. Never knew that I had to worm until I started reading
the stuff on this site.
> I am sorry but I do not believe that no vet will help you - there are plenty
I didn't say that no vet would help me, the vet I have here is at a
loss. They just are not that knowledgeable about chickens.
> Have you contacted your ag extension
The next one that passes is going to be taken to them, maybe they can
run some tests to find out what is going on.
> Have you had necropsys done
????
> What are the symptoms
The chicks arrived in what seemed to be good form. Then they started
showing signs of being weak. I thought at first that they were just
wobbly from gaining too much weight too fast. Then the first one
stopped walking all together. We hand fed and watered her but she
didn't make it. Now with a few of the other ones getting older, it is
like their leg muscles are not developing, thier hip joints seem to
spin outwards and they just continue to get weaker even with hand
feeding, watering and weight bearing 'exercises' (I make them try to
stand when eating and drinking). There is no sneezing, coughing,
watery eyes. I can not pin point any other symtoms, yet all of the
girls seem to be different. But it all stems around the fact that
they are weak, wobbly or just not trying at all anymore.
> What are the necropsy results
Again, ???
> What treatments have you given and why did you choose them
They started out with chick starter feed, grit and oyster shell
additive and a vitamin/electrolite water supplement. Just like I
start out all of my chicks. I have now been giving a antibiotic
solution in filtered water, making sure that they all get a chance to
drink it (one at a time, in my hand, next to the water dispenser).
But today is the last day of treatment (6 days total, as I do not know
what I am treating yet) and there is absolutely no improvement.
> When did the symptoms start
About a week after arrival.
> Being crabbit here where there are folks who might be disposed to help you
> is not a great idea
I was only being a crabbit to the comment that chickens are poultry, I
guess that person did not understand my meaning in my opening request
and I am so stressed out over all of this, doing everything I can to
help my little ones that I guess I did not want to be treated like an
idiot anymore (that is the general impression I have been getting from
those that I have already talked to, especially the place where I
purchased them from. It's kinda like, 'they are just chickens, get
over it, you are doing what you can, why bother looking further'.)
What I read about what goes on in the UK, etc. is not what goes on
around here. I would be laughed out of my community, if it was found
out that I had consulted a vet about my girls. In my area the vets
tend to focus on large animals or domestic pets (chickens not being a
domestic vet). It took me 1 week of searching and then having to have
someone order it in the first time I tried to find antibiotics for my
chickens, when I noticed small little sneezes about 2 years ago.
Any thoughts?
