Banning things is stupid, ban something you dont like, where does it
stop eh ? Facism thats called. Legalise the hunt saboteurs thats what
I say, let the bastards fight it out between themselves.
Seriosuly though, banning it it is the wrong way to go, banning fox
hunting has no more to do with a respect for animals than fox hunting
has to do with pest control, its purely ideological, based on a hatred
by the incumbent machinery of state, of the "posh wankers" who like to
ride around in their red jackets treating everyone else (eg all those
not involved in the hunt) like the peasantry (as anyoine whose ever
had the misfortune to come accross the bastards while engaged in any
other activity will know, I've seen them block public highways for
hours before now, arrogant twats, and run all over peoples land and
destroy it and then argue that "its traditonal" so it's OK)
Apart from anything else, they catch *** all foxes anyway.
On these grounds, I would suggest a "compromise" solution, involving
strict regulation, starting with the following
All hunters and horses to be wearing hi vis yellow jackets AT ALL
TIMES
This by itself would fulfill most of the idelogical goals, add further
restraints such as
All the hi-vis jackets MUST display the name of the hunt, and contact
details (phone number, etc)
All hunts to be accompanied by police at ALL times, and must pay the
codt of this policing provision.
All hunts will GIVE WAY to traffic UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
Any hunt that strays onto land it has not gained permission to cross
immediately loses its licence, AND IS SUBJECT TO FORFEITURE OF ALL
ASSETS.
All hunts MUST BE FILMED, film to be submitted to the licensing body
immediately after the hunt finishes, any tampering, or missing film
means the hunt will be investigated for malpractice, during which time
its licence is suspended. Film to be held on archive and used if
investigatioon into other matters is warranted.
All dogs to be kept on leads when on a public highway.
Any breach of these regulations that be proved results in
investigation and if the breach is proved, licence to hunt withdrawn,
all assets forfeited.
That way, only people who really really believe in hunting as a method
of pest control will be bothered to do it, and all the people whoi
enjoy the whole "holier than thou" aspect of the game will *** off
and do something else (Billiards perhaps, or maybe fencing)
You see, you have this framed all wrong, this is not an animal
wellfare issue, and it never was, its a clash of ideologies between a
culture of "the nobility" and a culture of the "working class", and
should be treated as such.
Frankly, no one gives much of a *** about foxes except about six
pathetic animal rights loonies, (and no one gives much of a *** about
*them* either), dirty vicious little bastards, so they are. smelly
to, as anyone whose ever been close to one will happily testify.
The other solution, a much more fun one, is to legalise fox hunting
with guns and landrovers by the general populace, and then let hunt
breakers chase the fox, and shoot it before the hunt get it. Kind of
a race. That would be more exciting, and maybe a bit more bipartisan.
