Thanks for your support and suggestions. I have considered a dog but my
emus would kill a brown or black dog so my selection was limited. I have
llamas to protect against coyotes but they will not harm a human. They have
free run of the property.
At one time I had great protection. I had a young Texas Longhorn with a
calf. The mama could be vicious if she suspected you were a threat to her
youngster. Her horns were intimidating. You had to watch her. When she
pawed the ground it meant STOP RIGHT NOW! If you took another step or two
she would bob her head and that meant BACK UP RIGHT NOW and if you took
another step or two she would charge. She was the most viscious and
beautiful animal I have owned and I loved her dearly but I had to sell her
before she hurt someone.
Remember this is Texas and I can use deadly force to protect my property.
