If my ducks had an area that they could duck their heads down and swim
through, they would. Especially in the hot afternoon sun, talk about a
treat to be able to be in the water and be in cool shade. Yes, it will
probably become their favorite spot.

Yes, unfortunately ducks are cute and attract all kinds of attention.

Why not try some electric fencing to keep the kids out. A couple strands,
one higher and one lower, would do the trick.

LOL! Right there with you (only not quite the babe you are
anymore...38). After the 3rd attack on my chickens, I told the neighbor
that I would shoot her dogs if I felt they were getting too close to my
property. Then one day her kids were out looking for their dog because it
had run away. I was outside and they came up and asked if I had seen it
because some mean neighbor would shoot it if it was loose (no, I did not
shoot it). Made me feel bad, but I haven't had anymore massacres since.
Better this way than to come home from work and see a yard full of bloody
feathers and chicken remains scattered everywhere.

Good luck...(oh, the electric fence keeps the neighboring dogs at bay also)
