I would search the hatchery web-sites, if you are wanting to know which
breed looks like what. As far as permission, that all depends on where
you live. If it is in town, but a small farming community town, I would
call city hall and ask for the department that handles regulations. They
will be able to tell you if it is allowed or not. Chickens are wonderful
pets, but unfortunately they are classified as an agricultural animal.

A good number is two or more, not for the garden, but for the hens
themselves. They need to have company. What is a medium size garden? I
consider my garden to be medium, but I live out in the country and if you
count my lawn, flower beds, fruit and vegetable gardens, then you are
talking about an acre.

If I were you, I would check out the Bantam varieties.
