It definitely will give you the greatest fun watching them move around
and do all sorts of different things, rather than keeping them confined
in a small run - and them as well!

There are bantams and bantams. Some of the smallest, like Sebrights, I
think might be attractive for a cat. Most grown up banties should be
safe, though.
Most bantam breeds are much more active than big hybrid hens, and often
can fly across normal fences easily. My impression is that if you let
them roam freely, they move over a much larger part of the land than
hybrids, especially the breeds that are layers more than meat birds. The
meaty type of bird is often less flighty and does not need so much
space.
I must admit that 50 by 30 feet is hard to figure out for me. My garden
is about 1.300 square metres and my bantam birds still like to use the
nighbour's two meadows next to my fence. I'm so lucky that she doesn't
mind! Ten square metres of outside run per bird is thought adequate
here.
