Surprise Arrival

Yesterday at lunch (parked in a parking lot downtown), a very ugly, what I
thought was a huge duck, came waddling up to my car. I got out and gave
it some of my sandwich and discovered that he/she was so ugly that it was
cute. It was very, very friendly. It wanted to be held and cuddled. It
was shivering from the cold. It was wet from the rain/snow that was
falling. It obvioulsy was someone's endeared pet and not prepared to be
out in the winter weather all alone.

(no laughing now!) So, being the completely soft hearted person that I
am, I put it in the back seat of my car and rushed it home (to get back to
work in time). It rode perfectly in the car. Just sat in the back seat
looking out the window. Kind of reminded me of a dog. It even wags it's
tail and pants like a dog. Got it home and put it in a seperate little
coop area. My step-daughter gave it food (mix of layer pellets and
scratch - only thing we had on hand), water and a little swimming pool
full of water.

I searched on-line and figured out that it is a Muscovy duck. Ugly little
*** but sweet as puppy. Named it Earle. Not sure if it should be Pearl
though.

So...what do Muscovy ducks eat? Do they have the little curly feather on
their tails if they are male? What surprises should I know about?

I have an ad running in the local paper and on the local radio station for
lost and found. Hopefully the owner will see or hear it.
