You are so right, once a chicken killer, always a chicken killer.
I got 5 dogs myself, and none kill chickens.
Regarding your advice - use the "3-S system", namely:
.....Shoot, shovel and shut up.
That's exactly what I'm going to do!
Got the gun loaded, and the shovel ready!
