I got my 8 pullets in late July. By two months ago the one Americana was
strutting, crowing, and just looked a whole lot bigger & meaner than the
hens - obviously I had gotten 7 pullets and one cockerel. You haven't heard
any crowing? Have you tried hanging around outside the henhouse at dawn?
"Losing them steadily" sounds like more of a concern than a rooster, if you
haven't figured out why you're losing them. Plus if you have less than four
hens for that one rooster the hens are going to start looking pretty ragged.
