Exactly -- the amount they can eat in comparison to a normal days browsing
is very small
They cannot take in as much so in effect are starving :~)
The degree and the obvious physical effect depends on their ability to
prepare for incubating beforehand
I cannot see why people think its fun to let birds sit on pebbles and eggs
with no male for weeks on end
Its nearly cruel
