I know about falconry but I specifically meant our hens - chickens.
The question has come about because on a ng I said that we took our hens to
events. Someone else said that he'd never do it. someone else said that it
was alright if they were tethered. Someone else said that hens should be
trained not to wander off.
I wouldn't tether our hens at any time, I think it's cruel and would mean
that they wouldn't have a chance of escaping from danger. I remember our
favourite Alison who had no chance of escaping from Reynard because her legs
got tangled with some lengths of thread in our garden, since then I leave
nothing like that around and advise that all bits of baler twine and the
like are not left lying about.
We do keep our hens in runs at times but they are free to move around AND
safe from outside dangers.
I can't believe that anyone thinks it's OK to tether a hen.
