12 gauge shotgun. I would use #4 buckshot, but a #6 birdshot is a
pretty big pellet so that would probably work too. If you are buying
a shotgun for preditor control, I would get a 3" magnum. You can use
magnum shotgun shells or you can also use standard shotgun shells in
the same gun. Get a variable choke and twist it down to full choke
for the hawk. You will toast him good.
