Hi all, my first post here. I've been raising chickens for awhile
now and really like Bantams. I got a little crazy one day and ordered
twenty five pure bred bantams from McMurrey. Sure enough, the next
monday I got a call from the post office to "please come get your
chickens." The lady sounded a little stressed out. When I arrived at
the post office I found out why. There was not one corner of the post
office that was free from the very loud and piercing PEEP PEEP PEEP's
coming from the back room. It turns out that McMurrey sent me FIFTY
chicks! When my wife found out she exclaimed "FIFTY F*#@%$#
CHICKENS??!"
I've got signs in all the local feed shops with no takers. It
looks like I'm going to have a very large flock. I am wondering how to
introduce that many chickens to the established flock (no roosters) of
Barred Rocks, Rhodes, Australorps, Aurucanas (sp?) etc. What will the
dynamics be of so many new roosters? They have a large pen and an acre
to roam during the day. The coop is ten foot square. Any suggestions
or comments on the above are appreciated. Dan Cutter
