Dark box with holes for ventilation. If you put quarters of a nice juicy
apple into the box with them, they'll have something to eat and drink,
sort of. I always do that when we go to poultry shows, and they don't
need water stops then. The last show we went was 500 km away, now what
would that be in miles... a fair distance, anyway

You're brave. Butto me it sounds like the right decision for you at the
moment. I have given up gardening years ago - I have to decide what to
spend my little free time on, and I chose chickens. With a little child,
there's only so much time left and if your choice is gardening now, well
that's fine.

I think your ladies will be happy to live in a larger garden with more
hens (perhaps even a rooster?).

I only hope you'll stick around and join us from time to time - it's
just as bad to lose an old s-a-p friend, you know!
