Ducks need fresh water to swim in, wash in, drink all the time
They need a pond which preferably has a gentle flow of water in and out to
keep it clean.
This does not need to be large if its free flowing
If you only have a static pond it needs to be cleaned and refilled at least
once a day -- this needs to be considerably bigger than a couple of gallons.
The bigger it is the less often you need to empty it but beware of
containers with steep sides [like old baths]- if they displace too much
water they can have difficulty getting out and drown with exhaustion.
If you fix in a ramp in a bath then you have a great pond substitute. This
should be installed over an area of deep loosefill to act as a soakaway. A
ball*** valve will ensure it is always refilled with fresh water. Pulling
the plug out means you can empty it and clean it easily
