There are various methods
If you have a permanent fence line then you can lay a ground cover membrane
beneath it or periodically use an effective weed killer
You can use the electric fencing to create a mobile pen -- this has the
added advantage of being able to utilitise your grazing much more
effectively and give your birds fresh grass/ forage every couple of weeks.
It also means that the ground gets a rest from the birds reducing potential
health and worm problems.
In this case you simply mow or strim a strip of grass where you are sighting
the fence. The easiest way is to get a rope of the same length of the
netting -- it usually comes in 25m - or 50m lengths.
You roll out the netting - start with the first post and keep the bottom of
the net taught as you push it into the ground. You can do various things to
increase the tension as required.
You can put the posts in at an angle
You can twist a loop or two of the top over the posts to gather the slack
You can fix the guy ropes at each corner
If your ground is very undulating / uneven you can buy extra posts and
tensioning struts to stiffen the netting and raise it over the humps
The bottom strand is not electrified but you do need to keep the next one
clear.
If you have small predators then you want to find close mesh netting - also
useful for bantams and growers.
There are a number of meters for routinely testing the lines and things like
night lights which will flash to tell you its still working
Hope that helps
