Re: A FAQ

Hello Unicorn,
I must say I may not agree with you on some things (agreed with Pammy T on
the 'value' of a chicken ) but I think your suggestion for a faq is an
excellent idea. I have only posted a question once on this site and my
question (which was polite but a bit bumbly- nerves I guess) was not
answered or responded to in any way. As a result (of the problem in my
question) What I thought was a very insignificant condition has actually
become more of a concern, and I was only enlightened on this having read the
info provided by one of the sites you provided links for. so thank you for
that. In other words, faced with the disappointment of being ignored, and
having noticed a fair bit of hostility flying about on this site from time
to time - as well as some wonderfully insightful offerings, I would have
really appreciated a faq.

It probably wouldn't have answered my precise question, but would have given
me a good idea as to which causes/ symptoms that could be easily eliminated,
and of course links to elsewhere to do further research.
I live in a fairly urbanised area bordering the countryside, but there are
NO vets (so far discovered) that have any knowledge of poultry in my local
area. For people like me this site can/ has been invaluable as an
additional source of info.on generalised problems. I am about to start a
degree in zoology, and my experiences with the vets,(or lack of) as well as
talking extensively to a lady who runs a 'chicken sanctuary' (mainly for
unwanted / ex-battery rehabilitation / cruelty victims) over the phone who
has a wealth of experience, but little in resources, has certainly made me
reconsider what I would like to specialise in ( clue- chickens!!) as there
seems to be a huge shortage of local experts in this field.

Anyhow, I digress, just to let you and Bruce know it certainly has my
support (an FAQ). I am kept hugely busy with all my animals (not just
hens), two young children and a vast amount of study, but if I can help
towards setting it up just let me know.

Regards to all, and thank you to those of you who have contributed so much
information to this site so far.

Rosie

P.s sorry for top posting - it's the etiquette for most of the e-mails I
need to send so I'm afraid I forgot to adapt for a newsgroup until too late-
will try and remember for the future, I know it can be confusing sometimes.
