Thanks, Jill. She is calm and doesn't appear to have any discomfort so I'll
stay the course. I've been sitting and talking with her just for the heck
of it and she does appear to like the company. And the other chickens have
gone to the wire (double fence with many foots' distance) to cluck with her.
But the slow decline in the face of treatment for the obvious ailments would
suggest something like you mentioned. But, hey: she has had a great life
here, lots of food and treats and coddling, which is more than so many
chickens in this world have a chance for. But she's been one heck of a
bird. It's just amazing how smart those older biddies are. The 3 year
olds are almost getting a clue now. The ones I have entering their second
year are just dopes. Maybe in a couple years they'll wise up and know how
to hold a conversation.
