Bear in mind they have VERY short memories and may well surprise you in
being not miserable in a space of hours or at the most days
The imprinting birds like swans and geese have much more attachment to their
personal company
Most of the others really could not care less as long as they have good
company, food water clean bedding etc
:~)
Give it a try and see how it goes
Their safety and your piece of mind comes before a few hours of confusion
for a small brain
