Revenge of the Rooster

My BIL came over last night. The same one who the rooster attacked last
week, when he decided to measure to re-roof the chicken house unannounced.
The rooster has been a docile little creature ever before, and ever since.
Until last night.
As soon as the Rooster saw my brother in law, he went into instant attack
mode.
I couldn't believe the vengeance that a rooster possesses in that tiny
little body!
My Brother-in-law is the nicest guy ever. He'd do anything for anybody and
runs around doing nice things without warning, and never leaves a note who
did it. If some nice deed has been done, we just assume my BIL has been
here. A BIL to be treasured. (I always kid my husband that I married the
wrong brother, except my husband is pretty super himself!)
I can't have my rooster attacking my BIL. So as much as I like this
rooster, I think he's going in the pot.
Why would a rooster take such a hearty dislike to someone? And apparently
ONLY that someone? And apparently remember it two weeks later?
Is this normal rooster behavior?
The damage this guy can do is fearsome. If I removed his spurs, would he
still be a danger?
