No don't put him in the pot. He's a clever chap and remembered your BIL's
visit of 2 weeks ago. He doesn't dislike him - just thinks that he is a
danger to his home and family. Can't you isolate him when your BIL comes
round?
I have a visiting swan here in my garden and ever since we rescued his wife
from being tangled up in netting about months ago, he really hates us,
whereas before he was quite manageable. All he could see was that we were
doing something to his beloved and he didn't understand that we were trying
to help - like your BIL.
Even if you remove his spurs he will still have the same memory.
