Good books/websites for potential chicken-keeper?

Hi all,

I'm contemplating the idea of keeping a couple of chickens in my back
yard for egg-laying and entertainment purposes. However, I know
nothing of chickens beyond how to cook one. Can someone in this group
recommend a good book to read (or a good website, for that matter) on
basic chickenry with an emphasis on the suburban amateur? Also, can
chickens tolerate hot weather? (I live in Southern Texas - summer
temperatures are something like 110F)

I'll be very grateful for any recommendations.
