Perhaps the vets where Christina lives are more compassionate and competent than where you live? I know mine would anesthetise for amputation but then mine are very good vets and manage to operate on birds successfully every day.

you must have some kind of chickens worth lots to be worth the $400

surgery

bill that it would cost to do that.

my poultry mean more than money. Yes some are worth a lot. It seems however that I have a vet who is competent and cheap as it wouldn't cost anything like that.

Chickens
are great in the pot, but i can't imagine spending that kind of money on
vet bills for a chicken.

Do you breed fancy show chickens? Or how do you justify advocating that
kind of expenditure? (just curious) I mean a chicken couldn't produce
enough eggs in a lifetime to pay it's surgery bill.

Where there is the difference. You keep scrub chickens. I keep show quality fowl who's eggs can sell for £10 each.

I don't believe in allowing them to suffer, but I won't spend that kind of
money to fix them either.

If they cost more than $10 to fix, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

For low quality scrub fowl used only to churn out tasteless eggs I can see your point.

Pardon me, but why be nasty? Anything valid you may ahve to share with the group is negated by your surly and butchy attitude. Your supercillious replies just alienate you from the group rahter than make any kind of good impression.
Why not make an effort at being a nice person?
