wow...you make me feel bad...all I did was pick a bushel of tomtos, put up 8 quarts,
Putting up a canner of maters is an accomplishment. It doesn't seem like much, but that's 8 meals!
Well done!
string some beans, Thats significant too. I just planted my second crop of green beans (The chickens ate ALL of the first plantings before they got put up. So now there is a shiney new fence around the garden and a new crop of beans growing. Hope they make ready before frost)
feed critters, and help the
granddaughters with their homework! (now THAT wears me out!)
My cockerels are acting the same way and the hens are not coming out of the barn...I have a troupe of 6 cockerles that travels the yard together...they have now discovered that I live "up there" and have come visiting...I DO NOT want rooster poop on my deck!
Aww but they are sooo cute when they come visiting!
I've had them walk in the house, and it gives me the giggles. I remember when they were little running around on my floor, sitting on my shoulder, and helping me type on my computer.
The other
three sit down in the barn terrorizing the hens (mad rapists, too) I see the imminent hand of death approaching for those three...the goof troupe is really no trouble except for the sightseeing...yet.
I have a goof troupe also. Cute gangly little suckers. I hope these don't madly rape the hens either, but I know they will.
I had decided to replace K'Lamity Klem with a new Roo next year. But he treats the hens with respect, and he's so nice, I'm not sure that perhaps I want to. I had a chicken raiser come visiting, and she said to replace him ASAP, as he has a skin condition. I've treated it, and treated it, and it doesn't go away. She thinks it's not something treatable, and says to get rid of him. He's a gentleman Rooster, and once he got his spur trimmed he's been very docile. He was quite stressed about the youong roosters taking over, and I got in his field of fire one day. He was justified at being mad at the cocky young roosters (as was I) and If I send K'Lamity Klem to the big hen house in the sky, it will be with great regrets, but i think it's necessary. He's the kind of rooster I would like to see run the flock. I've seen him BREED hens, but I can't say that he has ever raped them. And he's got a loyal following of hens that CHOOSE to be with him, unlike the hens quivering and hiding from the mad rapist roosters. I am not going to EVER tolerate the kind of behavior those young bandit gang rapists inflicted on my hens ever again. When i see the hens stressed, the young roosters GO. They had been pissing me off for about the past tow weeks, and my husband said to wait, and we'd butcher them this coming weekend. When i saw them trying to tear that poor little hen to shred, i had it, that's enough! I took care of it right then, right now.
