Two deaths in last two weeks!

Hi folks,
I've had two chickens die in the last two weeks, they are black rocks and I
do not know their age as I inherited them with the henhouse, although I do
know some of them weren't laying much/if at all.
They started featherpecking a couple of weeks back and about a week ago one
of the particularly baldy ones who seemed fine before lunchtime, I found
dead after lunch! Then yesterday, another one who hasn't looked right for
weeks, been very 'quiet', wanting to be on it's own, not eating as much,
quite slow moving, day before yesterday was late going up into the hen house
and then wouldn't come out, just sat in nesting box, looking poorly, comb
was almost white for the past two days. Then passed away quietly in the
nesting box.
Do you think it's just old age? Should I be concerned, the rest of 'em seem
fine, behaving, eating, laying normally. Not feather pecking anymore I
don't think either. Recently had a red mite problem but this is dealt with
now.
Should I get a vet to look at them? Would rather avoid this if possible
because of the £££££££'s.
Any advice/comments would be appreciated.
