I have no idea. She had been fit and well until about a week ago. My friend
didn't feed her dogs on smoked anything. They got a basic complete dog food.
It was probably age, plus her early history wasn't know as my friend owns
rescue kennels and the bitch came in a few years ago as a rescue.

My friends Rottie had been ill for around a week before she died and had
had all the usual tests and xrays. Her symptoms were lack of red blood
cells (anaemia) but tests for pyometra, leukaemia and the anaemia thing
which is common and hereditary in Rotties, all came up negative.

I like them too and always said that when my elderly giant schnauzer dies I
would get a rottie as I need a large guard dog here for when I go out,
however I don't think I'll bother as dogs, as nicve as they are, are a ruddy
pain in the backside. I much prefer the company of my cats. They are simply
not as 'in your face' or demanding as dogs are.
