Free ranging should keep the claws trimmed back naturally from
scratching, but her claws are growing in crooked due to the scaly leg
mite infection.

Trimming claws for now, (carefully and properly by looking for the blood
line!) will be helpful, but the underlying parasite problem needs to be
adressed. Her claws will grow in properly and be trimmed down by
scratching if you can clear that up.

I'm willing to bet that all your feather foots are in similar shape.
It's not an uncommon problem!

I've been there. Trust me. ;-)

There are several remedies, most people advocate rubbing vasaline into
the legs to soften the rough scales and suffocate the mites. I used a
pyrethrin spray treatment and got them all at night when they were
roosting. I also added cedar to their bedding, but I had a well
ventilated henhouse so could get away with that.

Good luck!
