Many thanks for the helpful comments.

Had a fun 15 mins this morning collecting all 5 hens, one by one, and
cleaning their feet, clipping feathers where necessary and oiling
their legs.

Much indignity and bad language ! (I'll leave you to guess which came
from where <g>)

Will repeat the treatment after 4 days, and take a look at the
over-long claws then - seems to be affecting the little white
feather-feet worst...
