Re: culling poultry if birdflu comes

Sound advice; I'll try it.
Thanks very much.

Thanks Jill and Pammy,
I'm in a suburban setting with a medium size garden. My neighbours'
goodwill
is important to me, but I wouldn't slaughter my birds just because of
that.
The poultry house is small, the run is large; but of course the run is
open
to (potential) infection from wild birds.
I would have to consider the quality of life for my birds if they were
cooped up in the henhouse for a long time. How long? Who knows?
Otherwise,
if (when?) H5N2 comes to the locality they will have to be destroyed
anyway,
I guess, but too late to eat them.
I'm not in a hurry to act, but want to be prepared if I have to. I'm not
in
a hurry to eat them, either; I'm normally a veggie!
Air rifle sounds a good solution.
Many thanks,
It sounded as though you had made up your mind to slaughter instead of
finding them homes with other people or the simple addition of a cheap
blue
tarpaulin to cover the roof of the run with. As long as the wire is small
enough mesh to stop wild birds from entering the run, this should be
enough.
