Hen dies suddenly and unexpectedly

One of my New Hampshire Reds was found dead in the coop this morning.
No signs of injury. She was less than a year old, a good layer, and
seemed fine the day before. She and my other 14 hens of various breeds
spend their days roaming freely about our yard.

Is it common for a chicken to just die suddenly like that? Any
feedback would be appreciated.
