Is it common for a chicken to just die suddenly like that? Any

I'm by no means an expert, but I remember reading somewhere that they
sometimes do this.

One of our Isabrowns (sp?) did the same recently. My daughter had seen
her pottering around normally in the morning, and I found her dead in
the coop a couple of hours later. The previous couple of days had been
very hot (around 40C), so I put it down to stress.
