In the United States.
Our birds fly up from South America through the United States and into
Canada. There are really no signs down south as of now that I know
about. It will be interesting to see if all of a sudden like in other
places there are signs and the birds track the infection up though the
U.S. and into Canada.
I heard the other day disturbing news about the area south of Mexico
I hope it is wrong otherwise parts north might find things much less secure
in the next few months
Although the source was reliable it was not first hand so I hope its not
true
Considering the countries of origin so far and their reporting
capabilities/desire. I will be interested to watch the migration to
the North.
Indeed - each migration for many years is going to be a telling time
The lack of reporting by some countries is indeed a grave concern
A sinister theory at best. . . if there were a group or
groups that wanted to cause hugh economical harm to "Super Powers"
what better way then to infect the natural migration of birds with a
human receptive virus in 3rd world nations that don't have the money
or desire to contain the problem?
try googling -- its been thought about already and supposedly disproven :~))
Yes, it's the everybody is out to get us feeling. But I am concerned
that there is no real explanation as to why these outbreaks are
happening.
The outbreaks have been pretty well explained all along
They are following known patterns of epidemiology
- the Baltic swans moving south for better grazing
- movement of infected eggs/ day olds and adults - often illegally in that
there were restrictions operating within the area/ country of origin - China
is a major culprit here
- migration of wild birds
- infected bedding and manure spread over the land
etc etc
Its been more of a surprise that with the ineffectual handling of this over
teh past years by much of SE Asia and the rest of the global community in
providing impetus and assistance that it has taken so long to escape.
The routes are all ones that are fraught with political, economic, and
communication problems
That is why I have a wait and see attitude about this. Time
will tell.
Yes - we all need to be prepared to protect our stocks but enclosing birds
now in places where the threat is low is not doing any good to the situation
and definately not to the birds
Good monitering of your local threats and being ready to do what is
necessary to control any outbreak is the best
