Baby chick: Head-shaking??

I havet a two week old white frizzle
cochin that has had head-shaking for a few days. It
also was scratching at its left ear. This batch of
chicks (just three) is completely isolated away from
any parasitic insects, so I was thinking ear
infection, although they are on amprolium feed.
So I had some prescription ear drops left over from
one of my children. It is not an antibiotic; rather
just an anesthetic to kill pain. I put some drops in
the chick's ears. At first it seemed to help the head
shaking. But now it's pretty much back to normal.
I hope the chick doesn't have some disease and will
die; my three year old has picked this one as his
fave!
If anyone has ideas for me, or what head-shaking might be, they'd be
appreciated!
Sincerely,
