Advice please

One of our two banties went broody so, remembering something Jill said a
year or two ago, I asked a breeder if she had any suitable fertile eggs I
could slip under her. The bantam, not Jill or the breeder.

The hen's sitting tight on four bantam croad langshan eggs and being very
conscientious. She gets out in the morning for a good feed etc then goes
back.

So far so good.

The eggs should hatch a week on Tuesday or Wednesday. The day after we have
to go off for the weekend. I can make sure that there's a secure run with
plenty of food and water in an appropriate container and even a son to come
and make sure everything's OK twice a day but I need to know if I can leave
the other bantam in the coop/run with the new family - assuming there is
one.

We have a separate coop which the spinster could use if necessary. I don't
want to compromise the well-being of the chicks.

The new 'mother' is boss hen normally and the other usually lays her eggs in
the 'spare' coop but since the broody's been sitting No 2 has somehow
managed to lay her eggs under the broody.

It's very new and exciting!

Mary
