I have just hatched out a dozen Maran eggs. 7 are white 5 are grey brown
mottled.
The parents are Cuckoo Marans, the *** a fairly pale grey.
Does the colour difference indicate the sex?

I have no idea with there is an ultra recessive "white" gene in Marans but
7 of 12 is decidedly iffy


I thought that too, Jill. It's many years since I had any Marans but none
of my chicks were white, although some were yellow striped dark and turned
out okay.
