Hello all,
I have a sick guinea fowl keet three or four months old which has eaten
something large and angular. He/she has its head scrunched down into its
neck with all its neck feathers ruffled out and looking unwell,
occasionally swinging its head from side to side with its mouth open like
it was uncomfortable. After much chasing around the chook yard I finally
caught it and I could feel something in its crop that is large, firm and
angular, maybe a gravel rock or something. I wonder how it was swallowed
in the first place. The other keets are doing well and there are no
problems with the roosters and hens either.
Can I remove something from the crop or will it have to pass of its own
accord? I gave it a small dose of olive oil but let it back out in the
yard as it was stressing so much by itself. It drinks and eats a little
but is still unhappy. The vet is not an option - none available.
Thanks
Ginny
It died. Now down to six lavender keets.:-(
I'm sorry. I had no advice to offer so there was no point in replying -
I've never kept guineas. I don't think many on the group do.
