Sounds like fun although expensive. Hope you bag some soon to make the
outlay worth your while.
Me too! Gas was $2.73 today

Fuel is the killer isn't it. I think its
AU$1.40 litre here, rough exchange US$4.75 gal. Diesel is worse. Do you
have to travel far, a local game reserve or state forest or out the
back
of your own block?

We own a second property, but it's 14 miles from home.

Our wild turkeys (bustards) are protected - hell everything's protected
here, even the politicians although the indigenous people can kill them
(the bustards, not the pollies) and any other native fauna.

Our Buzzards are protected, but our turkeys are not, politicians are also
protected, because a lower life form doesn't exist.

We don't have feral deer here but my brother on the eastern seaboard
hunts and stocks his freezer with feral deer.

Feral deer are a problem, and we recieve regular season deer tags plus
damage control permits. We are only allowed to keep seven, and have to
give away all other damage control deer. Friends line up when we have
extra permit tags. We would give them to soup kitchens, but deer must be
professionally butchered and paid for by the hunter. It's much cheaper to
give them to friends and have a home butcher party.

We have kangaroos which
are edible but I find the local ones rank. I think they browse on local
vegetation, some of which has high levels of 1080 poison. Local fauna
is
immune but I swear it taints the meat. (Have I said this before??
please
forgive if I'm repeating myself)

I would love to raise roos for exotic meat

Another lovely autum
