Actually, it sounds like it'd be cheaper to just buy a moderately
sized flock of turkey poults, raise them to maturity and then sit
outside the pen and shoot them. Then again, hunting is never about
saving money. I deer hunted as a teenager. I quit pretty much the
season I bagged my first and only deer. It wasn't guilt, I eat meat
and understand where it comes from and it was a clean shot and instant
kill. I just didn't get enough gratification from the kill to justify
sitting in a tree stand for 2 months every year. Guys who really love
hunt seem to enjoy the relaxing and doing nothing out in the woods
more than the actual achievement of the goal.

It would be. But I like the idea of eating meat that comes as nature intended it to be packaged. They know what fresh air, blue skies, green grass, and know what it is to have their feet in the dirt. We do not buy meat. We hunt it, or raise it ourselves
That's the really sad part of eating meat - not that animals die (unless we think of ourselves as not-animals, superior to all the other meat-eaters) but that their lives are so godawful. Here in New Zealand we have outdoor raised sheep and cattle (beef and dairy) but too many pigs and chickens leading concentration-camp existences. Methods of killing are pretty well legislated, from the point of view of avoiding cruelty and ensuring hygiene. But what is still permitted is keeping chickens and pigs in totally unnatural environments where they have no chance to live lives that allow them piggy- or chicky-type fulfillment of moving around and using their bodies and minds and senses.
