I'm probably one of the least knowledgable here, but I know from past
experience that this would occassionally happen with some of my hen. I never
noticed any illness or death among the hens that I could associated with
this, so I wrote it off as being a very large object being passed and
leading to minor bleeding. This was limited to a bit of streaking, smears,
not evidence of heavy bleeding.
Like I said, if someone else comes through with other advice, follow them,
but I don't think it's anything to really worry about unless it happens a
lot or your birds start acting funny or show obvious injury.

Hello all...I have four hens just for egg laying purposes. Recently a
couple of the eggs have had alot of blood smeared on the shell. I have
had them since they were chicks, feed them lay crumble and left over
food. Anybody seen this before?
Thanks,
Jim
