there is a good chance she will die from the bacteria the raccoons
teeth have put into her body. Had you started to administer
antiobitic injections right away she had a small chance of surviving.

There aren't any vets in my area that treat chickens on the weekend!
They do dogs, cats, etc. but not chickens. I have a live trap but my
horse stepped on it; I'll try to unbend it now. I'm really glad I
found this NG. I have a Houdini horse who can open a man door with his
mouth & he was constantly getting in the hay area & stepped on the
live trap. We fixed it, much to his chagrin. There's not much I can do
for Bo vet wise until Mon except feed, water & move her house. The
holes are only 1/2" in diamater & only in the back of the crate & I'll
cover them up somehow. Candi

I concur. I was trying to find a vet to look at my chickens last week. I
called every vet in the county, and none would look at them to worm them.
I called the Agricultural Extension office , and they suggested killing
any sick chickens. These were not sick chickens, they just had worms.
I asked for a vet, and they said there were no county vets in the area
who would do chickens, If I went about 70 miles north, in the large
poultry areas, I could get a herd health vet. So i called one, and they
said to come that far, it would be a $200 barn call, because of all the
appointments they would miss during that travel time.

I know Pammy T would pay that. But Pammy T is rich and 3l33t and totally
impractical. IMO.
But for 12 chickens, I came looking here and got help. . And yes, I
would kill them if they were sick before spending $200 for a vet to look
at them, without even treating them!

Chicken vets simply aren't.

Diddy, regarding worms. Raw pumpkin seeds work as well as anything you can
get from a vet. Grind 'em up & put it in the food.
