Thanks Ginny For the back up about dingos ect.
We do have a vixen who when has cubs attacks in the day time between 11 am
& 2 pm to get my poultry .
And yes I know it is a fox as I have seen her. I am not allowed guns here as
it is to close to town.

No problem Peggy. Many people are unaware of how wide and diverse our state really is. We had dingos on the station so I know what they are like and what they do.
Eating the head only seems to be done by some foxes around here and certainly does not seem 'normal behaviour' but I've seen it done and wouldn't have believed it otherwise. We have no rabbits here so the foxes eat any free meal that comes along. Around here it may be one of my hens at lunch time, the neighbours new born lambs, especially if its one of a twin/triplets, or mice and grasshoppers which we are overflowing with at present. Also guinea fowl if they can catch them. Most of the time I just don't have a gun handy when I see the fox and I am too tired at night to go spotlighting these days. Never worried me when I was younger. LOL
There has been local 1080 fox baiting around here recently. We were supposed to participate but I was too slack to put my order in on time and I always worry about mine and others pets. So I shoot foxes I see if I have a gun and try not to lose too much sleep over the hens at night. After all, that's why I have a fox proof pen for them.
