The hen stayed put all night.
We had a new chick this morning and 3 are breaking out as I type. I guess
the hen is willing to finish what she started.
We are making sure she stays put most of the day.
It is true about other hen laying more eggs into the nest while she was
brooding. I moved her and the nest into another pen when I noticed what was
happening.
This polish hen is being great about us holding the chicks and helping them
when they cant get back in the nesting box. She has shown no signs of being
aggressive towards us. Hard to believe that this is the same polish hen that
would not come near us 3 weeks ago.
Thanks for all the great replies,
Regena

My hen has stopped sitting only after 4 chicks hatched.
She is more interested in teaching the 4 chicks how to be chickens.
2 of the eggs are starting to hatch and the others are only days away.
Is there any way I could help the one that need a few more days?
I hope she sits on them tonight.
I am in Texas and the temps are high of 91 today low of 70 tonight.
Will they finish developing if she abandon them?
Thanks,

The chances are other hens have been laying beneath her hence the
variation in hatching dates
If a hen has her own cluth only they will all hatch in the same time frame
and she can come off the nest with them together [ barring the few
mishaps]
A hen will normally stay tight for about 48 hours after the chicks hatch
before presenting them to the outside world. They need to be out and about
and feeding.
Hopefully you will have the rest of the eggs into an incubator or at the
very least a very warm place to finish hatching so they can complete their
incubation
good luck
