Never ever leave out meat laced with poison because it may not get taken by
the animal you want it to. It is an excellent way to poison your own pets,
protected species, small children and the like.
JA_MORON is about right.
Our government department which regulates feral pests and wild dogs provide 1080 poison meat baits to land holders for fox control in rural areas. I have never used rat poison in meat but I do use it in and around the house for rat and mice control. I know of another man who uses oleander to kill foxes in his area.
We are bound by law to control feral animals and here that includes many feral cats dumped by townies in rural areas. I have rescued three cats but we have had to destroy many more. They are vicious, destructive and disease ridden creatures which kill many native birds and wildlife. Native wildlife is immune to 1080 poison but it kills most meat eaters dead on the spot.
